PROGRAM OF RECOVERY

12 steps to recoveryTurning Point follows the world's most successful recovery model - the Twelve Step program of recovery. Residents must participate in AA and NA meetings in the community. This has proven to be a most constructive model for a sustained recovery. The Turning Point experience also includes: learning a positive self-concept, examining alternatives to using alcohol or drugs, and developing social/group skills through counselling, group activities, and outside community resources.

Turning Point is a short-to intermediate-term (up to four months) residential program of recovery. It is designed to provide a structured, positive living environment for men and women who need support while learning to live without the use of alcohol or other drugs. The program provides much more support than outpatient programs or twelve-step meetings alone. The program ultimately enables residents to lead responsible, productive lives.

HOW IT WORKS

TURNING POINT is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where people can use their own initiative to restore themselves to healthy, contributing citizens. During their stay, residents are expected to:

Participate in running the houses.
Take turns with cooking, cleaning, and general upkeep of the houses.
Attend in-house meetings to deal with issues that arise from co-habitation.
Attend a minimum of six AA/NA meetings per week.
Build a support system that will be operative upon discharge.

Upon leaving Turning Point, the typical client will be established in a drug-free lifestyle, which will include new leisure activities and better skills for coping with stress. The client will have a support network of clean and sober friends, and will be ready to live as a productive citizen.
