Turning Point Recovery Society is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to helping those who desire to stop using drugs and alcohol in a safe, supportive abstinence-based environment.

Addiction has become one of the most critical and pressing health and social issues facing our society today. Addiction causes an inordinate amount of suffering in every Lower Mainland community and across our province. Everyone knows someone who has been directly or indirectly affected by addiction.

In addition to the human suffering, addiction also imposes significant economic costs. According to the Canadian Centre for Substance Abuse, the economic costs of addiction in British Columbia alone are estimated to exceed $3.7 billion annually. This staggering price tag includes costs to our already-burdened health care and justice systems and lost productivity resulting from disability and premature death. Behind the dollar figure is a dramatic toll measured in tens of thousands of deaths, hundreds of thousands of years of productive life lost, and millions of days spent in hospital.

In delivering on our mission, Turning Point:

  • Provides safe and supportive housing for vulnerable citizens in our community;

  • Facilitates the entrance of these individuals into community-based addictions support networks;

  • Assists these individuals to regain their independence, reach their full potential and become contributing members of society;

  • Helps reduce the social and economic costs of substance abuse within the community and the province of British Columbia.
