Re: 8180 Ash Street, Richmond, B.C.

Dear Resident:

Since we last wrote to you in May, Turning Point Recovery Society (“Turning Point”) has succeeded in obtaining stage two Project Development Funding from BC Housing to make an application for rezoning and development on the site at 8180 Ash Street. This is still a preliminary stage of the development application process. The next step is for us to make our rezoning application to the City.

On Thursday, May 31st , we had a preliminary meeting about the rezoning application with City of Richmond Planning staff to discuss the rezoning application requirements. We also discussed the community process and advised them of our intent to establish a Neighbourhood Liaison Committee to work with us throughout the rezoning and development process, and beyond, should the project be approved.

In addition to the Neighbourhood Liaison Committee, Public Information Meetings and Open Houses will follow in the coming weeks. We want to ensure that all who are interested have an opportunity to learn about our project and to discuss issues and concerns.

Additional design work is still required and will be undertaken by the Project Team and the Society. The design process will undergo a thorough review by City staff. The City will host a Public Hearing after our Public Information Meetings and Open Houses, so there will be ample opportunity for neighbours to review and comment.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Please call me if you have any questions. If you would like to meet with me to discuss our proposal further, I can be reached at 604-303-6844.

Sincerely,

Brenda L. Plant
Executive Director
